Providing guidance, organization & perspective throughout the college admissions process
LYNN ZERBIB I graduated from Yale University in 1991 with a degree in American Studies. At Yale, I was captain of the women’s tennis team and was the first Yale tennis player to receive “All Ivy” status four years consecutively. In 1997, in connection with the 25th anniversary of Title IX, I was one of two Yale tennis players named to the Ivy League Silver Anniversary Honor Roll. I grew up in Larchmont, NY and attended Mamaroneck High School, where I played on the boys’ tennis team for my last two years of high school. After college, I worked at Court TV in New York City for six years, where I was the network’s spokesperson during the O.J. Simpson trial and was in charge of all media relations. I then attended Columbia Business School where I received an MBA with a concentration in Marketing in 2000. After business school, I managed marketing for ABC’s first interactive TV group and brought interactive viewers to Sunday Night Football, The Academy Awards, The View, and the presidential election. When I settled back in my hometown of Larchmont to raise my family, I found myself helping nieces, nephews, friends, and family with their applications to summer internships, private schools, college, and graduate school. After helping a tennis player who was living abroad navigate the college process, I decided to transition to a career in independent college counseling. I received a certificate from UCLA’s College Counseling program and am a member of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC). Prior to starting my college counseling firm, I worked as a college counselor at Breakaway Prep (formerly known as Collegewise) in White Plains. I have helped many students from the tri-state area with the college admissions process. My students have been accepted to a wide variety of schools, including Princeton, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Duke, Amherst, Williams, Tufts, University of Michigan, Wash U, Johns Hopkins, UVA, Middlebury, Colgate, Boston College, Vanderbilt, University of California Berkeley, Barnard, Oberlin, Emory, Tulane, SUNY Binghamton, Bucknell, and more. Because of my background as a college athlete, I have worked with recruited and club athletes in many sports. However, the majority of my students have a wide range of interests and are entrepreneurs, artists, dancers, musicians, debaters, magicians, actors, and even palm readers. I have helped students apply to an array of programs including business, computer science, engineering, exercise science, and traditional liberal arts. I am a strong proponent of offering underserved students access to college counseling and have volunteered for several not-for-profit organizations. I provided college preparatory workshops at the White Plains Youth Group’s Summer Career Academy, which serves at risk high school students. I also volunteered at Let’s Get Ready in White Plains, which provides low income high school students with free SAT preparation, admissions counseling and other support services needed to gain admission to and graduate from college. Finally, I serve on the board of directors of the Mamaroneck-Larchmont Student Aid Fund, which provides need-based college scholarships to Mamaroneck High School students. I live in Larchmont, NY with my husband, three children (who are in the Mamaroneck public school district), and two dogs. In my free time, when I am not driving my children to tennis and field hockey tournaments, I like to play paddle, read, travel, watch Netflix, and spend time with friends.
