I graduated from Yale University in 1991 with a degree in American Studies. At Yale, I was captain of the women’s tennis team and was the first Yale tennis player to be “All Ivy” all four years. I grew up in Larchmont, NY and attended Mamaroneck High School, where I played on the boys’ tennis team.
After college, I worked at Court TV in New York City for six years. As Vice President of Media Relations, I served as the network’s spokesperson during several high-profile trials including the O.J. Simpson trial. I subsequently attended Columbia Business School. After graduating from business school with a marketing concentration in 2000, I worked at ABC where I was responsible for bringing interactive TV to viewers of Sunday Night Football, The Academy Awards, The View, and the presidential election.
When I settled back in my hometown to raise my family, I assisted friends and family with their applications to summer internships, private schools, college, and graduate school. After helping a tennis player navigate the college process, I decided to transition to a career in independent college counseling. I received a certificate from UCLA’s College Counseling program and am a member of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).
I have helped students throughout the country with the college admissions process. Before starting my own college counseling company, I worked as a college counselor at Breakaway Prep (formerly Collegewise) in White Plains for five years. My students have been accepted at a wide variety of schools, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Duke, Amherst, Williams, Tufts, University of Michigan, Wash U, Johns Hopkins, UVA, Middlebury, Colgate, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, University of California Berkeley, Barnard, Oberlin, MIT, Emory, Tulane, Lehigh, SUNY Binghamton, Bucknell, Colby, Hamilton, and more.
Because of my background as a college athlete, I have worked with recruited and club athletes in many sports. However, most of my students have a wide range of interests and are entrepreneurs, artists, dancers, musicians, debaters, magicians, actors, and even palm readers. I have helped students apply to an array of programs including business, computer science, engineering, exercise science, education, and traditional liberal arts.
I am a strong proponent of offering underserved students access to college counseling and have volunteered for several not-for-profit organizations. I provided college preparatory workshops at the White Plains Youth Group’s Summer Career Academy, which serves at-risk high school students. I also volunteered at Let’s Get Ready in White Plains, which provides low-income high school students with free SAT preparation, admissions counseling, and other support services needed to gain admission to and graduate from college. From 2017-2022, I served on the board of directors of the Mamaroneck-Larchmont Student Aid Fund, which provides need-based college scholarships to Mamaroneck High School students.
I live in Larchmont, NY where my three children all attended Mamaroneck High School. My oldest daughter is a senior at Yale University majoring in History of Science, Medicine and Public Health. She is currently applying to medical school. My second daughter, a junior at Bates College, was a recruited athlete and is captain of their nationally-ranked field hockey team. She is majoring in Psychology and Minoring in Education and Hispanic Studies. My son will be attending Yale University in the fall. In my free time, I enjoy playing paddle, reading, and spending time with friends.
